The transfer of BPDA employees to the new department has become a source of controversy since Mayor Michelle Wu revealed plans in January to create a City Planning and Design Department. Earlier this month, BPDA board members pointed to uncertainty about how the change would affect the agency’s nearly 200 employees when the board voted to table an executive order related to some of Wu’s desired changes.
