Worcester City Manager Eric Batista is looking to address the city’s housing crisis with a Housing Production Plan and an Affordable Housing Preservation Program, among other measures, according to a communication he sent to City Council.“I have heard the concerns of colleagues, the City Council and members of our community about housing-related obstacles, which have been exacerbated by challenges with production, global inflation, rising rents, utility costs and the COVID-19 pandemic,” Batista wrote. “Affordable and accessible opportunities will enable us to retain more residents, whether they have roots going back for generations or they are the first in their family to settle here, from first time home buyers to renters.”
